The Philadelphia Flyers will be without the services of defenseman Justin Braun for the near future.
The team announced Monday that Braun is out with a groin injury which will force him out of Alain Vigneault’s lineup for several weeks. It is unclear when the injury occurred. Robert Hagg will take Braun’s spot in the lineup on Tuesday for a trip to the Carolina Hurricanes (7 p.m., CSN).

After arriving over the summer in a trade with the San Jose Sharks, the 32-year-old has appeared in all 42 regular-season games for the Flyers this season. Braun has helped the Flyers improve on the penalty kill while also recording two goals and eight assists.
Hagg’s return gives the Flyers six healthy defensemen on the roster ahead of a busy stretch of games. Following Tuesday’s game in Carolina, the Flyers return to the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday for a Rivalry Night showdown with the Metropolitan Division leading Washington Capitals (7:30 p.m., NBCSN).
The Flyers will also see Brian Elliott return in goal on Tuesday, moving Carter Hart to the bench. Tuesday’s date with the Hurricanes is the final game of a six-game road trip, dating back to Dec. 28. Losing four of their past five games, the Flyers have dropped to fifth place in the Metro Division and will aim to jump back into a playoff place.
Sitting at 49 points, the Flyers are just outside of the final Wild Card spot due to goal differential.
