Konecny registers three assists in All-Star Game loss for Metropolitan

Travis Konecny put in a strong performance at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game on Saturday night in St. Louis.

Despite a 9-5 loss to the Atlantic Division All-Stars, Konecny registered three assists for the Metropolitan Division’s best. The lone Flyers representative linked up with Devils’ forward Nico Hischier with 6:22 remaining in the opening period to level the score at 2-2.

Konecny’s second helper of the evening came with 3:56 remaining in the first period, as he set up Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones.

He would add his third and final assist with 7:10 remaining in the second and final period, setting up Hischier for his second goal. It was a nifty pass from Konecny from close-range, but it wouldn’t end up being the game-winner for the Metro. The Atlantic Division would rattle off five unanswered goals to win 9-5.

Konecny, who also participated in the Skills Competition’s Fastest Skater event on Friday, will now return to the Flyers for the second-half of the NHL’s regular season.

The Flyers, currently ninth in the Eastern Conference, open up on Friday against rivals Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena. They return home to the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche.
