Voracek, Frost join Giroux, Braun, Sanheim on COVID-19 protocol list

The Philadelphia Flyers saw two additional players added to its growing COVID-19 protocol list on Thursday.

Jakub Voracek and Morgan Frost have joined Claude Giroux, Justin Braun, and Travis Sanheim on the list, which has grown to five since Sunday. The Orange and Black remain out of action for the time being, but at the earliest can return to practice on Monday, pending no additional players get added to the list.

There are a number of contributing factors for why a player can be placed on the COVID protocol list, including tracing or being in contact with a teammate who does test positive. Sanheim was placed on the list Sunday prior to the Flyers’ 7-4 win over the Washington Capitals before Giroux and Braun were added to the list Tuesday.

Voracek, Giroux and Braun played in the game and practiced Monday. It’s unknown how much Frost has been around the Flyers since he is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery in Colorado.

As for the team’s schedule, the earliest they can return to action now is February 18 after seeing four games postponed. The Flyers saw Tuesday’s scheduled game in D.C. postponed by the league while home dates with the Devils (Thursday, Saturday), and a trip to face the New York Rangers (Sunday) were also postponed.

The Flyers’ next scheduled game is at the Wells Fargo Center against the Rangers at the Wells Fargo Center before Alain Vigneault’s team travels to Stateline, Nevada, to play the Bruins in the NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe game on February 21.

Despite not playing this week, the Flyers remain in second place in the East Division and will have several games in hand to improve in the standings.
