DeMarco Murray Has Gone Missing

Leading up to Sunday huge win against the Patriots, it’s actually been a pretty shitty year for the Philadelphia Eagles. But perhaps the player on the Eagles team that’s having the worst year of all, is DeMarco Murray. I mean, where the hell has this guy been most of the year? I thought that the purpose of trading LeSean McCoy away and bringing Murray in from free-agency was to have a back that could run down field. Every time I turn on the television, Murray is running like a bat outta hell towards the sidelines.

Hell, I turned on the Patriots game and I hardly saw the guy on my screen. In fact, even with Ryan Mathews out with a concussion, Murray is a third string back. In New England, Darren Sproles had 15 carries for 66 yards. He also had four receptions for 34 yards and last but not least, he had a 83 yard punt return for a touchdown. Then you have Kenjon Barner getting nine carries for 39 yards – plus a fumble that almost killed the Birds at the end of the game.

Where was Murray? Friggin Barner had one more carry than him during the Patriots game.

Murray’s last three games rushing:

Week 11 vs. TB – 13 carries for 64 yards, 4.9 yards a carry, with zero touchdowns

Week 12 vs. DET – 14 carries for 30 yards, 2.1 yards a carry, with zero touchdowns

Week 13 vs. NE – Eight carries for 24 yards, 3.0 yards a carry, with zero touchdowns

I don’t know about you guys, but those numbers just don’t jive with me. Let’s be honest here. If the Eagles somehow manage to sneak into the Playoffs – they’ll need Murray to contribute and be involved in the offense. I’m not sure what the cause of the issues are for Murray, but he and Chip Kelly need to have an honest conversation together to determine what the heck is going on here and more importantly, what needs to happen to fix him. I don’t have the answers.
