So there’s this wild rumor making the rounds that has Flyers’ Wayne Simmonds being traded to the Monteral Canadians. On December 22, Marc-Erie bouchard of Radio Canada tweeted that General Manager Marc Bergevin made a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Wayne Simmonds. The catch was that due to the holiday roster freeze, the trade wouldn’t go through until after December 27th.
All indications at this point is that this rumor is merely just that.. a rumor. There have been no legit reports that have come out that have stated that this is even close to happening, let alone an actual possibility.
Simmonds has gotten off to a red-hot start this season with nine goals and ten assists, making for 19 points in 34 games this season. Two of Simmonds goals came against the St. Louis Blues in a 4-3 win last Monday night.
For now Simmonds lovers, it appears we can breathe a sigh of relief. Keep an eye on how the Flyers are doing in the next month or so. If the Flyers start tanking, expect to hear more trade rumors involving Simmonds.
