Did we just get lazier or did Nike just get even more innovative? If you have ever thought to yourself, “Ugh, I have to tie my shoes so they stay on?”, say no more! Power laces Back To The Future style are on their way. Nike’s CEO Mark Parker announced that the HyperAdapt 1.0 self-tying shoe will be available this holiday season.
The new design’s initial hype came last year (October 21, 2015 – the day McFly from Back To The Future: Part II arrived in the future) when Nike sent Michael J. Fox a pair of the self-tying sneaks almost identical to the ones Fox’s character tried on in the 1989 classic.

Nike describes the HyperAdapt 1.0 as “…the first performance vehicle for Nike’s latest platform breakthrough, adaptive lacing. The shoe translates deep research in digital, electrical and mechanical engineering into a product designed for movement. It challenges traditional understanding of fit, proposing an ultimate solution to individual idiosyncrasies in lacing and tension preference.”

Cristiano Ronaldo agrees that they are pretty amazing:

The basic component is that it will be able to sense when your shoe needs to be loosened or tightened for a comfortable fit. As a former competitive runner, these shoes could revolutionize racing helping to prevent kicking off a shoe mid-race solely because they came untied.
Pricing has yet to be announced. If you can afford them, please feel free to message me on Instagram or Twitter for my shipping address. I will gladly accept them this holiday season.
I wonder if they smell like 8 year old Asian children’s tears?
