Audio: Spike and Howard Eskin Engage in Verbal War over Sam Hinkie’s Tenure in Philly

I don’t have to set much up here. I was pissed Sam Hinkie resigned, but I was even more annoyed that it was basically the front office – aka Jerry Colangelo – trying to push him out of power by hiring an equal that would eventually become a superior to Hinkie. The former Sixers general manager isn’t dumb, and he knew exactly what was happening. The Sixers’ ownership had failed him.

But, of course, we’re going to have people who don’t buy “The Process,” despite the fruits of Hinkie’s labors ready to help out as early as next season. Apparently that wasn’t good enough for Sixers ownership Jerry Colangelo and his baby boy, Bryan. There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind Jerry has been pushing this “dual” GM thing since he got here. Hinkie had enough.

And that’s where Spike and Howard Eskin come into play.

This isn’t the first time Spike and his father have gone toe-to-toe with each other on the radio regarding Hinkie. Over the years, they’ve had at least three of these segments, and I have to admit, it’s never not entertaining. Both Eskins joined The Josh Innes Show during the 5 P.M. hour yesterday and didn’t hold anything back.

Listen as Spike eviscerates Howard and steps all over his lawn. And they interact with callers, too. Note: the audio is close to a half hour. But it’s a must-listen. Listen to it two, three, 67 times if you have to. It’s well worth it.
