Fletcher Cox might want to get paid, but he’s not getting Ndamukong Suh-type of money.
At least Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio doesn’t believe so. He discussed Cox’s extension talks and why the Suh number won’t be reached.
Howie Roseman has leverage in the negotiations because not only does Cox earn a base salary of just $7.79 million, the Eagles can franchise tag him for the next two years. That’s three years of control. That also gives Cox time for him to showcase what he can do under Jim Schwartz, who worked wonders with Albert Haynseworth. Remember that pay check?
The longer Howie waits, the higher Cox’s price tag will be. Benjamin Allbright believes the Eagles might get something done with Cox before the season starts.

Cox isn’t the first or last NFL player to sit out voluntary camp while trying to seek out a new deal, it’ll get done eventually. Cox reportedly isn’t a guy who likes to spend a lot of money, so is his agent in his ear?
He might be. It could also be about pride and ego.
Either way, Cox isn’t going anywhere, that’s all that matters. Is a deal really going to get done before the season, though? I hope so, but I have my doubts.
