When Charles Barkley was in Philadelphia taking batting practice before Monday’s Phillies-Cubs game, he talked about a variety of things. This included taking a shot at Ben Simmons for not wanting to play in the Olympics this year. Ben Simmons said earlier this year he was going to skip this year’s Olympics and not play for the Australian Olympic Team in Rio. Barkley isn’t exactly a fan of that.
I think Ben Simmons is a good player. I’m a little disappointed he doesn’t want to play in the Olympics. Who doesn’t want to play in the Olympics?”
I know a guy who doesn’t want to play in the Olympics.
You think we’ll hear Chuck take a shot at Steph Curry? The back-to-back NBA MVP released a statement yesterday saying he was skipping the Olympics this year so he can focus on getting his body healthy for next year’s NBA season. I can go either way with that one. Simmons’ excuse? He wants to go through the process of being drafted and becoming accustomed to the NBA and his new team. You know, NBA life for a rookie. Which is worse? Probably neither. Why is this a story? I just wanted to get Charles Barkley in a headline again.
