A few months ago, the Dallas Cowboys’ draft board was leaked, and it showed that they viewed Carson Wentz pretty highly and would have taken him at No. 4 overall if he was available to them.
Obviously, that didn’t happen. Wentz was drafted second overall by the Eagles, and the Cowboys – who actually tried to trade up for Paxton Lynch and failed – drafted Ezekiel Elliott with their first pick.
Fast forward to October, and we have Pro Football Focus CEO Cris Collinsworth telling a great story about the Cowboys wanting to trade up and draft Wentz. Watch the video below.

“The Cowboys interviewed him. They went through and they put him on their board and, you know, it’s torture chamber stuff. It’s like they do everything they can to distract you. They’ll write seven different plays and coverages and as many details. You’ve see it, Jon Gruden does it on TV all the time. They knew Wentz was supposed to be a smart guy, so they took this thing to an outrageous proportion. They thought that somehow he had their playbook. He spit this thing back to them in a way they have never seen [in] a rookie.
“They say Dak Prescott was the second most impressive, but Carson Wentz was the guy who so blew this test out of the water that they were trying to look at different ways to move up in the draft and do different things – could they get there, could he fall to them, you know, there were all these possibilities. But, when you hear that and then you see what he’s done on the field and you see his ability to go to second and third reads this early in his career, it’s been impressive.”
Of course, the Cowboys may have made out pretty damn good, anyway. Dak Prescott has showed flashes, though he’s surrounded by a lot better team than Carson Wentz is in Philly. At least, you know, according to the experts. Now if only Wentz can sweep the season series.
Major BS> Cowboys Were Elliot, Ramsey and then Bosa. It was never Wentz. They did want to get back into the 1st round and grab Lynch who will be a great NFL Qb in this league, and better then Carson Wentz. But Dak has came the farthest out of any QB in the draft
all i can say is BAHAHAHAHAHAHA you have no clue what your talking about. I BELIEVE an NFL former player current analyst over someone that comments such puerile and obtuse comments.
