Penalties have been an issue for the Eagles in the last few weeks, however, they may not play as big a role in Sunday’s contest against the New York Giants.
Bill Vinovich and his crew are assigned to Sunday’s Eagles-Giants contest and Vinovich averages just 13.3 penalties per game, the second fewest in the NFL. That figured includes accepted, declined, and offsetting penalties.
The only other official to average fewer penalties per game, on average, is Walt Coleman. He averages 12.9 per game.
Looking deeper, Vinovich has called only three roughing the passer penalties and three unnecessary roughness penalties.
It’s safe to say that Sunday’s game is a must-win for the birds, and according to these numbers, they actually may be able to play football.
