With Chan Gailey retiring, the New York Jets need a new offensive coordinator and one of the candidates they have in mind is Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, according to a report by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Jets have a few OC candidates in mind. Again, Eagles QB coach John DeFilippo expected to be among them.

The 38-year-old joined the Eagles’ staff last January when Doug Pederson was hired as the head coach. DeFilippo had been the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in 2014 and does have previous experience working with the Jets. He was their quarterbacks coach in 2009 when Mark Sanchez was a rookie. DeFilippo was also the Oakland Raiders’ quarterbacks coach from 2007-08 and again from 2012-14 when he helped out Derek Carr.
New York is picking at No. 6 overall in the NFL Draft and need a quarterback. Perhaps with DeFilipo’s experience coaching young quarterbacks, which now also includes Carson Wentz, that’s why they view him as a viable option for offensive coordinator.
