2. Closing this Weekend: PAFA Student Exhibition
Where: Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, 118 N. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, June 2nd
This weekend ends the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts’ The 118th Annual Student Exhibition (ASE). The institution’s BFA, third and fourth-year undergraduates, and second-year MFA students have had their works on full display. These emerging artist’s had the great opportunity to “curate, install, and sell their own works in PAFA’s museum galleries.

3. Philadelphia Latino Film Festival

When: May 30 – June 2
The 8th Annual Latino Film Festival kicks into gear this weekend. There will be several Latino-themed shorts, documentaries, feature films, and more on display at several locations in the city. Get a ticket to view several immersive and cultural productions, Q&As, panel discussions, and more.

4. StoryCorps MobileBooth Tour
Where: The Porch at 30th Street Station, 2901 Market St.
When: Runs through Friday, June 28th
StoryCorps will be in the City of Brotherly Love through the end of June. In partnership with WHYY, come down to The Porch at 30th Street station to record meaningful conversations with another person. 5. The Book of Mormon
Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, June 9th
for those looking to hit up the theater, The Book of Mormon will be at the Academy of Music through next week. The New York Times called it “the best musical of this century.” The nine-time Tony award-winning hit is a can’t miss adventure this weekend.

6. Paradigm Gallery’s Exhibitions
Where: Paradigm Gallery + Studio, 746 S 4th St.
When: Runs through Sunday, June 22nd
Hyland Mather’s and Evan Hecox’s first solo shows at Paradigm Gallery + Studio should be added to your stops this weekend. The two concurrent exhibitions, Combiner (Mather) and Future Green (Hecox) are truly a sight to behold. Mathers newly hand-painted wood and paper assemblages are all made from discarded found objects, while Hecox’s imagery, inspired by his recent travels to Hong Kong, incorporates abstraction and realism.

7. Whitman at 200

When: Friday, May 31st
This Friday is Walt Whitman’s birthday. Several institutions and events will be examining his connection to the Philadelphia/Camden region and his relevance in literature. There will be a free birthday bash at Philadelphia’s City Hall featuring a performance by Patti Smith and her daughter Jesse, poetry readings and more activities. Head over to Camden, where Whitman resided, for a special program that includes guest speakers, a poetry reading, music and more.

8. Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship
Where: Talen Energy Stadium, 1 Stadium Drive. Chester, PA
When: Runs through Sunday, June 2nd
For the ninth consecutive year, Talen Energy Stadium will be hosting the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship. The nation’s top men’s and women’s rugby 7s teams will be battling it out all weekend for the coveted championship trophy.

9. Philly Beer Week

The 12th annual Philly Beer Week begins this Friday and runs through Sunday, June 9th. The brewing showcase will feature and highlight over 50 regional breweries. There will be an Opening Tap at 2300 Arena this Friday. Stop by the Milkboy’s O.G.B. Block Party this Saturday and the Craft Beer Day on Passyunk Avenue this Sunday

10. Luke Bryan

11. Independence Dragon Boat Regatta

Speaking of the waterfront, the 2019 Independence Dragon Boat Regatta is this Saturday. The event is the only Dragon Boat race in the nation run by active members of Team USA and World Champions through the years. These five-lane races will be exciting to watch.

12. Fete Day at Elfreth’s Alley

13. Historic Saturdays at Strawberry Mansion and Andalusia

The 11th annual East Park Strawberry Harvest Festival is this Saturday. Spend a sweet afternoon enjoying tours of the Historic Strawberry Mansion, strolling through the Mansion’s fruit orchard, and picking your own strawberries. Plus, goats from the Philadelphia Goat Project will make a special appearance. For those in a similarly scenic and festive mood, head over to Andalusia Open Saturdays. 15. Roots Picnic

20. Museum Sundays

The Sunday come to The Barnes Foundation for PECO Free First Sunday Family Day: Summer Solstice. 21. The African American Experience at Epsom Farm
Where: Cliveden, 6401 Germantown Ave.
When: Sunday, June 2nd, 1PM-3PM
Come to Historic Cliveden for The African American Experience at Epsom Farm. Tina Sheller, Assistant Professor of History at Goucher College, and two alumnae—Hannah Lane and Sophia Lipman—will present research on Epsom Farm and the free and enslaved workers who toiled on the property. There will also be an exhibit featuring artifacts and collectibles from the time.
