Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. headline Eagles Day 2, 3 draft picks

The Philadelphia Eagles bolstered several areas of their roster in days two and three of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. headlined the final eight selections made by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman this weekend. These eight players will join first round selection Quinyon Mitchell as the newest faces of the franchise.

DeJean was a first-round prospect who the Eagles selected No. 40 overall in the second round. The Iowa University cornerback earned First-team A.P. All-American and Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year honors in 2023. He registered seven interceptions in three seasons with the Hawkeyes.

DeJean also excelled as a return specialist in the Big Ten Conference.

Hunt became the first player selected in the NFL Draft out of Houston Christian University.  A 6-feet-3, 252 lb. edge rusher, Hunt spent 2019-21 at Cornell University before transferring to HCU ahead of the 2022 season.

He was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 while also earning First-team All-Southland Conference honors. Hunt led the team with nine tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and was tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles.

Clemson University running back Will Shipley was selected in the fourth round by the Eagles. A former First-team All-ACC tailback, Shipley delivered his best season in 2022, registering 1,182 rushing yards and 15 rushing TDs.

Trotter Jr. is the son of former Eagles standout linebacker Jeremiah Sr. He was named to the A.P All-American Second-Team in both 2022 and 2023. Over those two seasons, Trotter Jr registered 12 sacks, 180 tackles, and four interceptions.

Wide receiver Ainias Smith was also selected by the Eagles in the fifth round out of Texas A&M University. Smith led the Aggies in receiving in three of his four NCAA seasons. He missed most of the 2022 seasons due to a leg injury.

Michigan University guard Trevor Keegan was the Eagles final selection of the fifth round, giving Nick Sirianni added depth on his offensive line. Keegan won the National Championship in 2023 and registered double-digit starts in each of the last three seasons.

He was named to the All-Big Ten first team in 2022 before earning second team honors in 2023.

Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson and N.C. State offensive lineman Dylan McMahon rounded out the Eagles final two selections of the draft in the sixth round. Wilson led the Seminoles in receiving in 2022 (897 yards on 43 catches), being named to the All-ACC second team.

McMahon played in 49 games over five seasons with N.C. State, featuring at multiple positions. He was an Honorable Mention on the All-ACC Team in 2023, starting in 11 games at center.
