The Morning Brew for May 9

We certainly hope everyone out there had a great Mother’s Day yesterday. The Philly Influencer text chain was at it again, but that didn’t stop us from spending some quality time with our respective families.

And how ’bout them Phillies? After losing three of four to the St. Louis Cardinals, and losing another heartbreaker on Friday night, the Phillies bounced back to take two of three from the red-hot Miami Marlins this weekend. Yesterday’s win propelled them to an 18-14 record, good enough for third place in the National League East and only two games behind the Mets [three back in the loss column.]

This Phillies team has looked really bad in losses, but they never quit. They showed that against the Marlins this weekend. The team visits Atlanta fir a three-game series beginning tomorrow and should hopefully have their way with a terrible Braves team, but, hey, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get swept. It’s just the nature of a 162-game season. They return home Friday for another three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds. Maybe they can exact some revenge from the opening series of the season.

Some drama going on in the Earnhardt family:

The former NASCAR driver’s widow, Teresa Earnhardt, wants to keep the name from being used by Earnhardt’s son and her stepson, Kerry Earnhardt, and his wife in their home designs and furniture business. According to reports from ESPN, Kerry Earnhardt and his wife promoted the “Earnhardt Collection” in a project alongside Schumacher Homes and plan to start a furniture collection by the same name. The pair offers home designs in 14 different states.

But if Teresa Earnhardt has her way, that won’t happen—at least, under the Earnhardt name.

The Straight Shooters visited the WIP studios on Friday and recorded a two-hour show with Eric “Turtle” Golden. We looked at the recent WWE releases and drafted our own rosters for our own brands.

Clearly, I have the best roster of the three. There’s really no comparison.

But, the fix is in. Somehow, Turtle is winning and Vaughn is beating me. That makes zero sense in a sane world.

Make things right. Vote for yours truly because it’s the right thing to do.
