Brett Brown Defended Jahlil Okafor’s Defensive Effort from Wednesday’s Game

If you haven’t seen the clip yet, take a look.

Jahlil Okafor literally stood in the lane and did nothing. Awful.

The Lynam’s ripped Big Jah on Postgame Live following the Philadelphia 76ers’ 125-98 blowout loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown, however, defended his big man’s effort after the game.

“Jahlil is such a willing participant in trying to be coached,” Brown said via CSN Philly. “He lets us coach him. It’s just, he’s young. I think people sometimes have a hard time understanding really how young he is. There are times you saw just offensive brilliance tonight with really some really amazing type of individual moves offensively, and other times you realize that he’s got a long ways to go defensively, as far as a sustained type of effort and understanding of the defensive side of all of this. But he’s been fantastic.”

He’s definitely a long ways away defensively, that’s for sure.
