According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Eagles and Sam Bradford have ended current discussions regarding a short-term contract extension. Werder first reported the Eagles and Bradford were discussing a short-term extension earlier this summer.

While it might seem like a tiny letdown considering the way Bradford has looked this preseason, this obviously makes sense for both sides. Bradford looks great and will probably be working towards a long-term fat contract without injury worries, but the Eagles – who likely wanted to sign Bradford to a short-term extension so they wouldn’t have to break the bank exactly – probably have enough injury concerns about him anyway. So while on the surface this may seem like a big deal, if Bradford performs well and stays healthy, there’s no doubt in my mind the Eagles will re-sign him.
