Yes, I know it’s Howard Eskin saying this, and he hasn’t had the best track record in recent years, but this is still noteworthy. According to Eskin, Chip Kelly is leaning towards cutting Tim Tebow.
Yes, Eskin’s Tweet also says Kelly is looking for possible QB and OL help. While I can buy looking for more offensive line help, I’m not so sure the Eagles need QB help. Tebow looked… okay… during the preseason, and he won’t be utilized like most of the league’s other third string quarterbacks will be. Tebow, for all intents and purposes, will be on the field at least a few times a game if we’re to believe Chip has some packages drawn up for him.
That’s probably why this city is all about a third string quarterback. And it also may have something to do with having an injury-plagued starter and Mark Sanchez playing behind him. NJ.com’s Matt Lombardo also checked in with the infamous “well-placed source” and was told he or she was “not sure” Tebow survives today’s cuts.
Today, each NFL team needs to get to 53 players by 4 P.M. We’ll keep you updated on the Eagles’ moves.
