Your Morning Brew for September 28

1-2! This video did the trick.

Now, the focus is Washington. That wasn’t the best win against the Jets, especially considering the second half offense, but a win is a win is a win. Another win next weekend and the Eagles are back in business. And DeMarco Murray says he’ll play. But after this:

Maybe Murray could be relegated to third string.

Here’s Anthony DiBona’s review of the game.

This tribute to Ronnie Brown by Brandon Marshall was sweet.

The Cowboys pissed away a 14-point lead against the Falcons. Twice. The Falcons are now 3-0 vs. the NFC East, and will likely go 1-12 vs. the rest of the league, with that lone win coming against Washington.

First an inside-the-park grand slam, and now a diving catch at 19 mph. What can’t Aaron Altherr do!?

Need a good pick me up for this Monday morning? Here’s my Yahoo! Fantasy team, complete with 116+ points this week on the bench. My current total is 112 with Matt Forte, Carlos Hyde and Stevie Johnson not doing particularly well this weekend.

Ouch. I did good by picking up Andy Dalton this week, and I’m still ahead by 10.50 points, mainly because my buddy’s team is terrible. I need Davante Adams to either not play tonight or to have a really poor game and Mason Crosby to kick 15 50+ yard field goals for me to feel comfortable.

According to Curt Schilling, he’ll be back on ESPN for the MLB Playoffs.

Jonathan Papelbon further made the Nationals look foolish yesterday, tangling up with Bryce Harper in the dugout.

Video here.

Matt Williams, who put Papelbon in the game after the skirmish, said the reasoning was because he was his closer. Yes. He really said that.

Both Papelbon and Harper are apparently on the “same page” now, and Paps admitted he was in the wrong [which I disagree with].

Hilariously, the MLB videos through the Nationals website omits the video of the fight, but has Papelbon’s, Harper’s and Williams’ reactions.

….Weirdos down there, man.

Speaking of Harper, I listened in on the end of the Phillies-Nationals game on the radio while driving home Saturday night, and when Harper walked it off, Larry Andersen sat there in disgust at Harper heading to second base just so he could get a double. The hometown announcers said he’d probably get a single because the other runner didn’t even try to go to third base.

They gave Harper a double. What douchebags.

The Pope was in Philadelphia this weekend if you haven’t heard. Our Facebook post went viral.

The Pope’s visit was overall seen as amazing. Good stuff here by Philly.com.

“My days with you have been brief,” the pope said Sunday night, as he prepared to board a plane to Rome. “But they have been days of great grace for me and, I pray, for you, too.”

On Sunday, the pope pledged support – and accountability – to victims of clergy sexual abuse, and shook hands with inmates at a Philadelphia prison. His Saturday appearance at Independence Hall was on his mind; an aide said the pope felt it was a highlight of his trip to the U.S.

The pope made an unscheduled stop at the “Mary, Undoer of Knots Grotto” in front of the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul – where he was greeted by Sister Mary Scullion of Project Home and by other volunteers. She stepped forward and hugged the pope, who, she said, asked for her prayers.

NFL referees are assholes if this is true.

I was really surprised the Bills dominated the Dolphins yesterday in Miami. This lady was, too. [H/T Deadspin]

Ben Roethlisberger will be out for a few weeks with an MCL sprain. Michael Vick will take over the reigns for the time being. Unless, you know, he plays the way he is capable of playing. He’ll last a week, maybe two.

Damn it. All of the feels right here.

Not to self: Never kill spiders. Bad things happen. [Gawker]

At least the Rams didn’t screw up that bad…

Why can’t referees and players [and coaches] just get along?

Miracle in Texas.
