It was a good Saturday for the most part, as Philly basked in the glory of Temple’s huge college football game against Notre Dame. From College GameDay in the morning to no doubt pregamin’ until game time, the atmosphere was unlike any other we’ve seen so far this year in terms of local sports. But, it wasn’t all good.
According to a report from Philly.com, via the Philadelphia Police Department, a Temple fan was almost struck by a pickup truck inside a parking lot at the Linc, and when he went to confront the driver, he was knocked unconscious.
About 8:10 p.m., cops responded to reports of a person screaming in a parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field. There, they found the victim, a 33-year-old man, and four witnesses who told authorities that the victim had almost been struck by a motorist in a white Ford pickup truck.
When the victim confronted the driver about the close call, the motorist – who was wearing a white, long-sleeved Notre Dame shirt – got out of his truck and punched the victim in his forehead, knocking him out, police said.
The aggressor, who was about 30 years old and 5-10 with a muscular build, fled the scene in his F-250 Ford Super Duty truck, which had Delaware plates, according to police. The assault happened just 10 minutes after the start of the Temple vs. Notre Dame game at the Linc.
