A Penguins Fan Shoved a Blue Jackets Fan Down Arena Stairs, Then Ran Away

According to a person who was at the Blue Jackets-Penguins game last night in Columbus, a Penguins fan shoved a Blue Jackets fan down a flight of stairs, which caused a broken wrist and concussion to the fan.

Currently, the fan who did it still hasn’t been located, as he [or she] ran away from the scene quickly.

Aaron Bensing, a Blue Jackets fan who was at the game, witnessed the aftermath. Witnesses say the person was shoved from behind down the steps.

The Hockey Writers penned a great article after this, urging this nonsense to stop. And I completely agree. And this was apparently not the first time this scenario has happened in Columbus.

As a sidenote, I’d just like to say this isn’t a post trying to absolve anything Philly sports fans do that’s just as stupid, or worse. We clearly have a national reputation for being terrible fans but not once have I heard an instance of something like this happening to a rival fan, or someone being shot at or stabbed and killed in the parking lots in South Philly. This is rather exposing other fan bases that continue to pile on our city while failing to recognize that idiots are everywhere, and this type of behavior is not limited to Philadelphia.

Hopefully the Blue Jackets fan recovers quickly, and the Penguins fan is found and disciplined.
