The Philadelphia Flyers have picked up atleast one point in three straight games, the first time they’ve had a stretch like that since late October.
That doesn’t mask their glaring scoring problem, which now finds them ranked dead last in the league with 1.79 goals per game. That’s certainly alarming, but if and when, that trend subsides, the team has to be happy with their goaltending.
Steve Mason really took a beating early on this season, none worse than the four goals he allowed in a blink of an eye at Florida. He has gone through maintenance days, personal family matters and the usual ups-and-downs on ice.
He now, though, feels like himself.
“I finally am feeling like myself,” Mason said following the overtime loss to San Jose. “It was definitely a tough start to the year mentally and emotionally I feel at this point I’m happy with where my games at.”
That’s great news for the Flyers and their fans. Even better news would be Jake Voracek, Wayne Simmonds and Michael Raffl getting back to feeling themselves in the scoring department.
