Everyday there seems to be more new/rumors about Chip Kelly. Today is no different. The saga continues with news that we may be stuck with Kelly for another year. If you’re like me and want Kelly gone, this will make you cringe.
According to NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, Chip Kelly is likely staying in Philadelphia – for now. If Kelly were to make the move back to college, it would come as a surprise to many, per La Canfora. So the fears of many may actually come true with Kelly staying.
Despite months of rumors and speculation, Chip Kelly is likely to be back with the Eagles next season, according to team and league sources, and ownership has no plans to move on from him. If Kelly were to depart — and college does have a certain allure to him, though it would have to be the perfect situation — it would come as a surprise at this point. The coach reiterated his dedication to his players last week and owner Jeffrey Lurie is still a strong proponent of Kelly.
Jeff Lurie is still a fan of Kelly and apparently so is Bill Belichick – for those that care. I think at this point if Kelly were to make the decision to move on, it would be stunning, since he apparently told his players last week in a special meeting that he wasn’t leaving.
On top of that, some of the more high profile coaching jobs aren’t open any longer. Les Miles will be back in LSU. USC found their guy. Perhaps the only sexy coaching job that may become available in college is for the Texas Longhorns – but would Kelly even be interested in it? I’m not too certain.
So folks, it looks like with stuck with Kelly, at least for another year. How does that make you feel?
