Last night, I’m sure all of our nights were flipped upside down at the news Chip Kelly was fired by Jeffrey Lurie. Sure, some of us wanted that outcome, but we honestly didn’t think it would happen now, did we? Maybe, if at all, it would happen after Sunday’s game at the Giants. But, nope, it happened last night – in the middle of the last week of the regular season – and a lot of Eagles players actually found out either online or from people texting them.
And last night on Comcast SportsNet, Derrick Gunn issued some damning news in which some Eagles players texted him that it was “about time” Kelly was fired.
I’ve been texting back and forth with players and other people,” Gunn said Tuesday night on Comcast SportsNet. “Some players said, ‘I’m shocked, I didn’t see this coming.’ Several players have said — current players — have said, ‘It’s about time.’
“That’s all you need to know — ‘It’s about time.’ (He) lost them.”
Obviously, criticism had been levied at Kelly from some players he parted with, such as LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Brandon Boykin. But these type of comments from current players did not surface, at least publicly, until Kelly was sent packing.
“When I see several players say ‘It’s about time,'” Gunn said, “that’s all I needed to know to confirm what I knew for a long time.”

We already told you about some of the players’ reactions last night, and in addition to Gunn’s comments, Ed Werder of ESPN has provided some more player reactions:
Eagles player cites Chip Kelly's inflexibility as issue. "He wouldn't make a few changes here and there to make the players better."

One #Eagles player on Chip Kelly: "He is definitely someone who doesn't communicate." ultimately alienated Jeffrey Lurie too

This is all par for the course now.
