Jeff Lurie Fired the Team Up Before the Patriots Game

Here’s something that you don’t hear often when talking about the Philadelphia Eagles. Jeff Lurie lit a fire under the team’s ass on Sunday. The Eagles have been struggling big time and they were a huge underdog going into Sunday’s game against the Patriots. As we all know, the Eagles took out the Patriots 35-28 and it’s potentially a season saving win and huge motivator going forward.

Lurie generally remains low-key and out of the media’s view. But, with all of the negativity surrounding the team, it’s no wonder that Lurie poked his head out of his hole.

Chip Kelly had this to say about Lurie.

“He talks to everybody before every game,” Kelly said. “He’s in the locker room and he walks around and talks to players. He doesn’t give a speech. He’s as good an owner as I’ve ever been around. He really cares about the players and the coaches.”

Brandon Graham was fired up about Lurie’s comments.

Whatever happened pre-game needs to happen every week because the Eagles are still in the race for NFC East division title and they need to stay motivated.

Jason Peters also spoke on Lurie.

“He was fired up today! I’d never seen him like that in front of everybody.”

Conner Barwin would add the following:

“I understand the history between the Eagles and the Patriots. It’s unusual, but it’s always nice to hear that sort of intensity from your owner.”

The Eagles host LeSean McCoy and the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.
