Report: Jason Peters Took Himself out of Last Night’s Game to Avoid Injury

We all know that as fans, watching last night’s game was no fun after the first Eagles’ score. I’m surprised the entire stadium didn’t empty before the game ended, but there were a fair share of fans that left the Redskins’ drubbing of the Eagles early. But fans weren’t the only ones to check out early.

According to a report from Howard Eskin, which was confirmed by Les Bowen, Jason Peters took himself out of the game last night to avoid injury for a non-playoff team.

Peters, who was elected to his eighth Pro Bowl this past week, certainly thinks he has the clout to make such a decision due to his career.

The question will now be among fans, “Can you blame him?” I mean, I certainly can. The dude is making millions of dollars and because he’s afraid to get hurt – which can happen on every single play that he’s in the game for – he doesn’t feel like playing. I mean, that’s some bullshit right there. Peters may have milked an injury on Thanksgiving when he took himself out of the game as he was walking around on the sidelines with no noticeable sign of an injury.

As Eagles fans, we were pretty much tortured this entire season by the product that was put on the field. Peters, who signed a $41 million extension last year with a $15.75 million signing bonus, thinks he’s above playing out his contract. Maybe someone like, I don’t know, Jason Kelce, who picked up a fumble and ran his hardest to try and bulldoze through Redskins defenders, while down 21 points, should talk to him. Because that’s some flat out bullshit.

Did Sam Bradford take himself out of the game? Fletcher Cox? Malcolm Jenkins? Nope. No.

We still have me guys on this team. I wonder if Chip will get rid of Peters now. Though, that’d likely make the team worse. But it hasn’t stopped him before.

One of the only ones he’d have a legitimate excuse to get rid of is Peters. I guess it’s finally come out who they were talking about when an agent said “an Eagles player refused to play injured for Chip Kelly.”
