Chip Kelly Threatened to Bench Jordan Matthews Not for Drops, but for Spinning the Football

Oh, man. The more and more stories come out, the more and more I wonder how Chip Kelly lasted with the Eagles for three two and 15/16 seasons.

According to Cris Carter, Chip Kelly threatened to bench Jordan Matthews, but not for his tons and tons of dropped passes. Instead, he threatened to bench him because he would spin the ball too much.

Here’s the video, courtesy of BGN.

Interesting. Not the Matthews part, but the Carter is mentoring Matthews part. Clearly, Carter is Matthews’ “fall guy.”

In all seriousness, this highlights a huge issue that everyone had with Chip in the locker room and front office. It’s at the point at which figuring out what team would want to bring all that baggage on instead of rebuild their team into a contender. A lot of people think Chip can be a successful head coach, and maybe he can. But he sure as hell learned a lot of what not to do when he was the coach of the Eagles.

Yeah that’s it, let the Coke head mentor our young players. Chip was not wrong, you can’t spin the ball after every routine catch when u run the hurry up offense. Carter is a total d-bag, should of be canned long ago.
