“Black Monday” started a bit early on Sunday night when the San Francisco 49ers announced that they fired their head coach Jim Tomsula. Tomsula was fired after only one season with the Niners.
Owner Jed York spoke about Tomsula on Sunday night. Here’s what he had to say:
Jimmy has been a valuable member of the 49ers organization for the last nine years. We all know he is a man of high character, and his contributions on the field and in our community have always been greatly appreciated. This entire organization is proud and grateful to have worked so closely alongside Jimmy. We all wish him and his family great success in the future.”
Jason La Canfora gave his thoughts on the firing, via Twitter.

There’s that name again. We told you earlier on Sunday that Kelly was on Cleveland’s radar, so I can’t say that I’m surprised by this new report. The 49ers could perhaps use Colin Kaepernick to lure Kelly to the Bay area. Kaep may be the quarterback that could fit the best in a Kelly offense.
The feeling is apparently mutual as Kelly has reached out to the 49ers to tell them that he’d like to coach them, per a report from Adam Schefter.
Chip Kelly's camp has reached out to 49ers to express interest in their HC opening, per league source. 49ers likely to at least consider it.

I’m certain we’ll hear Kelly’s name mentioned a few more times by the end of “Black Monday.”
I so fuckin hope chip kelly becomes their coach I love the 49ers
