Adam Gase impressed the Eagles’ brass so much in his interview on Tuesday that he’s coming back for a second interview. Will he make it back for a second interview, or will a team grab him and not let him go beforehand? If he does make it back here for a second interview, will the Eagles let him leave the city without a contract?
According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Eagles probably shouldn’t have let Gase leave at all. On with Angelo Cataldi on the 94WIP Morning Show today, La Canfora made this argument for the Eagles to hire Gase.
Adam Gase to me, whether you like it or not, to me it makes sense,” CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show. “His father-in-law is Joe Vitt. [Vitt is] very familiar with organization, he obviously coached there [from 1995-1998 as a linebackers coach]. He grew up an Eagles fan. Adam, those guys have a summer house down the shore — like Ocean City, not far away. They’re familiar with area, he wouldn’t be intimidated by the environment. They’ve gotta figure out the quarterback position right? I mean that’s where they are. That’s gotta be paramount. This guy, whether he’s done it with [Tim] Tebow, or Peyton [Manning], or whomever. You look at his lineage, the time he’s spent with guys like Mike Martz. I just think he’s born for this. The time he’s spent with [Nick] Saban.”
So, yeah. The Eagles should hire Gase because it makes sense due to the fact his father-in-law coached for the Eagles and he’s familiar with the area. Oh, and he worked with Peyton Manning, a Hall of Famer, Tim Tebow and Jay Cutler and made them instantly better. The last time I checked, Tebow and Cutler are still not good enough to lead their team to the promised land. Gase hasn’t won anything as an assistant coach in the NFL, so why not just give him an entire team to try to claim that glory?
Gase spent a lot of time with Mike Martz and Nick Saban. Cool. Chip Kelly spent a lot of time with Bill Belichick. That ended well. La Canfora must be trolling us. Or he needs to win a bet. Yeah, that has to be it.
