Joel Embiid joined his team as they visited the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, but he’s going to stay on the West Coast for the time being. The reason is because he’s beginning his rehabilitation work on and off the court, according to this report by the Inquirer‘s Keith Pompey.
The 76ers’ sidelined center arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday. Sixers coach Brett Brown said he would stay for a few days, doing on- and off-the-court work.
Asked if Embiid’s trip to California included a doctor’s visit, Brown responded, “Not so much that.”
“It’s all part of that rehab and that plan and path that he is on with David Martin, one of the world’s recognized sports scientists,” Brown said. Martin is the team’s director of health and performance research. “He’s created a plan and path. The number of people around Joel Embiid is massive.
“We really are leaving no stone unturned with trying to get him to return to play.”
Pompey’s report says that Embiid will be closely monitored as he’s begun agility drills and worked out on a beach thus far. Let’s hope and pray that he doesn’t suffer another setback.
