Last week, the Daily News‘ Paul Domowitch reported that Jon Gruden was interested in the Eagles’ head coaching vacancy, getting a lot of people excited in Philly. His report was debunked quickly by Howard Eskin, who’s had a nice little run of being correct on stuff recently. Eskin said he texted Gruden and received a response that he wasn’t interested in coaching.
Last night on CBS3’s Sports Zone, Domowitch appeared and doubled down on his report that Gruden is interested in the gig, and said the Eagles are “lukewarm” at the idea.
He also mentioned he likes Pat Shurmur is currently the leading candidate to become the next Eagles’ coach, but he thinks Gruden is the best choice if they can make it work. He just doesn’t think Gruden will be able to work with Howie Roseman.
Allow me to add this: Domo doesn’t exactly look confident in his own report.
