When Jeffrey Lurie said he would pursue college, current and retired football coaches to replace Chip Kelly, he wasn’t lying. According to Ian Rapoport, the Eagles pursued Texas A&M coach, Kevin Sumlin, at the beginning of their search.

I think I speak for most Eagles fans when I say, “WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!” Nobody in their right mind thought Lurie would be interested in college coaches given how things ended with Chip Kelly.
Rapoport noted back in October that Sumlin would be open to coaching in the NFL, despite having no experience in doing so. Could you imagine the outrage if Lurie were to hire Sumlin here?
