No, it’s not Fletcher Cox… yet. I know we are all itching to hear that Cox has his deal done and is locked up for a very long time, and will potentially be a lifetime Eagles player. That deal will come, but as for today the Eagles have announced the following…

Via the Eagles website:
“Originally a fifth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012, Goode was claimed off of waivers by the Eagles in September 2013. During his first season in Philadelphia, the West Virginia product proved to be a reliable role player on defense, stepping in for an injured Mychal Kendricks in wins over Green Bay and Washington, while also standing out on special teams, recovering a botched snap on a punt for a touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 8.”
Goode to me is the type of player that makes an organization strong. He is an unselfish, reliable player that can step in and fill minutes where needed. He will never be the guy who’s jersey you buy, but he is a key component to a winning franchise. A “glue” guy if you will.
So, it may not be Cox, but I see this as a good signing to help in brining back a winning culture in the locker room, and a guy that can help in mentoring younger players.
