Things are starting to take shape for the Philadelphia Eagles. They hired Doug Pederson as their head coach and brought in Jim Schwartz as their defensive coordinator. They’ve re-signed Zach Ertz, Brent Celek and Lane Johnson. They’re close to locking up Fletcher Cox and they’re close to washing their hands of everything Chip Kelly related.
The re-signing of Lane Johnson was huge for the fact that their offensive line presented a lot of problems for them last year. There’s been a chorus coming from some players over the last month or so that they want Sam Bradford back as their quarterback.
The Sam Bradford question is among the biggest questions remaining for this team. There were reports that prior to the last season that Bradford’s agent was asking for $25 million a year, which is certifiably insane. It wouldn’t shock me if the Eagles wanted Bradford back, but there’s no way that they would give him that type of money to return, would they?
Add another name to the list of #TeamBradford. Lane Johnson was on 97.5 The Fanatic this weekend and gave his thoughts on the importance of having Bradford in there. You can listen to the full interview here.
Here’s a little of what Johnson had to say courtesy of Matt Lombardo from NJ.com.
We played the way we wanted to. We didn’t push the pace the way we normally did and I think that really helped us. I definitely want him to say. If you look at the last part of the year, Sam was doing really well. Completing a lot of passes and getting comfortable. Him staying here, him being familiar with the players, I think that would really help us out.”
Johnson’s feelings don’t surprise me. If Bradford is back, it would make more sense to have the slower tempo offense. Some of the big issues last year came from all of the three and outs from the offense that put the Eagles’ defense in a bad situation. I have to be honest, I’m not a fan of Bradford and could care less if he’s back.
I don’t think that the Birds are winning any championship this year and they probably get another quarterback as good as Bradford for less money. We shall see how things play out though.
let him walk
Dump Bradford and draft a qb. Pumped for a Schwartz defense!! Hope Josh brings out the fake cuz today.
I lost it when they played Frank Stallone at the end of the fake cuz bit
