Radko Gudas was ejected from last night’s game for this late hit and, sure, cheap shot on Bobby Farnham.
It was a cheap shot because Farnham wasn’t even involved in the play. Gudas clearly wanted to hit him even though he was involved with Nick Schultz and posed no threat to anyone on the ice at that point. If anyone disagrees with that, I’d suggest taking off your Orange and Black blinders.
But, Gudas was unfairly penalized for the hit, also. While it certainly wasn’t conducive to being ejected from the game – and anybody that tells you it is is certainly talking out of their ass because it wasn’t even a head shot – this adds to a long list of incidents Gudas has been involved in this season. He’s already been suspended three games, but that hit was another one that was unnecessary and the referees certainly aren’t going to give him the benefit of the doubt. He puts his team at a disadvantage every time he does that, whether unfair or not. If he continues doing that, the people that love Gudas’ “physical style of play” will soon find themselves tired of their team playing each game with five defensemen.
