Happy International Women’s Day; Here’s a Scumbag Who’s Salty About Erin Andrews’ $55 Million

If you have not been following the Erin Andrews stalking case, here is a brief timeline:

2008: Michael David Barrett filmed Andrews in her hotel room using peepholes at both the Nashville Marriott in Nashville, Tennessee and the Radisson Airport Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

2009: One of these videos featured a full length nude shot of Andrews, which quickly went viral after being posted online on July 16. Barrett was then arrested that October and pleaded guilty in December. In March 2010, Barrett was sentenced to 30 months in prison, three years probation, $5,000 in fines, and $7,366 in restitution.

2011: Andrews sued both hotels and five additional entities for negligence and invasion of privacy. She alleged that the Marriott hotel employees gave Barrett the dates and exact room number Andrews would be occupying during her stay. She also collaborated with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to enact a new federal anti-stalking law. Andrews was still trying to get the video removed from the internet that July.

2013: Andrews’ lawyers filed a motion in LA Superior Court seeking to reverse a subpoena from Marriott “seeking her payroll records, contracts, performance reviews, any disciplinary reports, as well as other employment information from her current employer, Fox.” Attorneys stated that the Marriott also wanted her “physician letters, notes, annual physicals, and other related medical records” and that this attempt was to “harass and embarrass” Andrews.

2015: Andrews filed a complaint against the Nashville Marriott and Barrett for $75 million.

March 7, 2016: Andrews was awarded $55 million in her civil lawsuit over the secret recording and release of video taken during a hotel stay.  Barrett was 51% at fault leaving 49% to the Marriott.

This does not necessarily mean she will see the full $55 million.  The Marriott will most likely appeal the verdict which could lesser the amount.  The award was based on emotional distress, so there’s a chance an appeals court could overturn the verdict.  TMZ gives a pretty good breakdown here explaining that Andrews could potentially be left with $6 million after taxes, attorney costs, and other courts fees are deducted.

All details set aside, many showed their support for Andrews via Twitter:

Funny you mention ignorance, @JTTheBrick.  Introducing David Portnoy, otherwise known as “El Presidente”, “El Pres” (or straight up douchebag), and founder of the satirical online sports and men’s lifestyle blog Barstool Sports.  Since the verdict that Erin Andrews was awarded $55 million came out, Portnoy posted a misogynistic rant about how “She can’t pretend to be the victim anymore”.  He also spoke for every other “human on earth” saying:

Listen I don’t care whether Erin Andrews was in on this or not. I don’t care whether she was truly scarred by this or not. The day that creep walked into her hotel and filmed her through a peephole was the greatest day of her life. That’s not even a statement on Erin Andrews the person. There is no human on earth who wouldn’t make this trade. Hell I’d basically kill myself for 55 million. Literally die and not be able to spend a nickel of it just so I had it. That’s how much money 55 million is. And to get it for this? Because people saw you naked? Oh my god! Talk about a winning lotto ticket. My question is whether she’s still allowed to act like a victim anymore? I feel like that should be part of the settlement. Erin gets more money than God, but she can’t bitch and moan about it anymore. She can’t pretend to be the victim anymore. Not when you get 55 million dollars. She won. And despite what she may say publicly we all know if she could do it over again she wouldn’t change a thing. Nobody in her shoes would. I need somebody to videotape me naked. NEED IT. Delivered too many newspapers not to get 55 million for naked dick peephole video. I’ll be at the Nomad hotel next week if anybody wants to stalk me.

Happy International Women’s Day, David.  I can assure you that no one wants to see you naked.

The thing this idiot doesn’t get is that he is talking about choices he would make.

Erin Andrews didn’t get to make that choice.
