Yesterday, we posted a few videos that sort of speak for themselves in how we’re going to love new Eagles safety Rodney McLeod. Now, it’s time to focus on Chase Daniel, who might very well become the Eagles’ starting quarterback sometime next season.
This video from 2007 on the preparation Daniel goes through to get ready for a game may make you feel a little bit better about him stepping in if Sam Bradford goes down.
And here’s a video about his leadership on and off the field.
Will this translate into him becoming one of the best quarterbacks the Eagles ever had? Still way too early to tell. But it’s also too early to say his career is defined as a backup quarterback when he’s never been given the chance to run an offense for a season.
But, is there a reason for that? I’m sure a lot of people will say the reason he hasn’t been a starter after seven years in the league is because he isn’t good enough, especially going undrafted in 2009. But Doug Pederson [hopefully] knows what types of quarterbacks win in this league and, who knows, he might be a huge reason as to why Alex Smith is still a starter in the NFL.
Of course, I’m crossing my fingers this move works out. The Eagles paid Daniel a lot of money. It’s time for him to prove it was a good investment. And understanding that the video from 2007 above was nine years ago, it’s certainly possible to think Daniel has changed his preparation given that he hasn’t been a starting quarterback in the league.
But, that’s just speculation. I don’t believe for a second he’s changed his ways after seven years in the league as an undrafted free agent. That tells you something.

Loving this blog. Much better in-depth coverage than those jokers over at Crossing Broad. This feels professional while they feel like a bunch of 11 yr old kids playing in their basement. Keep up the good work!
I totally agree, and eventually the crossing broad stepfords will come to their senses, and make the switch to Philly influencer.
The other blog is a pre-school project compared to this site. Jon Marks sucks, too, while I’m at it. 97.5 let the wrong guy walk.
