During the Flyers huge win the other night against the Washington Capitals, we showed you the cheap shot by the Capitals’ Jason Chimera on Shayne Gostisbehere. As cheap as it was, the refs didn’t call a penalty on it. The game definitely had a playoff type feel to it, so it was no surprise to see something like that happen.
If you missed it, here it is again.

While the refs didn’t call a penalty on it, the play didn’t go unnoticed and not just by Flyers’ fans. On Thursday, the NHL fined Chimera $5,000 for the dirty play.

It was definitely a well-deserved fine. Should the Flyers make the playoffs, these two teams could cross paths again and should that happen, watch out! That series could get ugly and I’d love it! This city deserves to see meaningful playoff hockey again.
