Flyers Lose Player to Upper-Body Injury with Key Game against Detroit Looming

The Flyers will be without Andrew MacDonald when they take on the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night, in what is nothing short of a huge game for the team. The Flyers made the announcement on Monday. General manager Ron Hextall said that MacDonald will miss Wednesday’s game due to an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day.

MacDonald left Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh in the third period after he was checked into the boards by Pittsburgh’s Tom Kunhackl.

Flyers’ Insider for CSN Philly Tim Panaccio said that it’s expected that Evgeny Medvedev will replace MacDonald in the game against the Red Wings.

Things are about to get real for the Flyers because they have four games left in the regular season and all will be played in a five game span. The Flyers now only have six healthy defensemen. They’re 39-26-13 on the season and only one game ahead of the Boston Bruins for the second Wildcard spot.
