There’s been no shortage of opinions from anyone when it comes to the Sam Bradford situation in Philadelphia. You can chalk up former Eagles and current Washington analyst, Brian Mitchell, as one that has an opinion of the situation and wasn’t afraid to talk about it on The Mike and Ike Show on WIP yesterday.
It’s unbelievable to me. These guys come from these big universities, they get drafted [in the] first round, and they’re basically paying them. They want somebody to give them something. I came from southwest Louisiana, was told I wasn’t gonna make it. I was gonna battle anybody out there.
“And he’s afraid to have competition? That doesn’t make much sense to me whatsoever. I don’t understand these athletes today.”
…
“When you don’t have a track record of being proven of doing something year after year after year after year, you can’t sit up here and feel like you’ve been duped. He has to prove himself. Yeah, he got drafted in the first round, got paid a lot of money, just like Robert Griffin III. What he did in 2012 means absolutely nothing today. What Sam Bradford did to get drafted means nothing because he has not been totally consistent for the longevity of his career to make people really believe he is that guy.”
…
“They [The front office, coaches, players] want guys who they feel will run through a wall to do anything to help them win. Not a guy that’s gonna go, ‘I wanna go somewhere else because you’re not handing me the starting job.’ Most guys are fighting for their lives. Most guys are fighting just to survive and have any kind of – you know, they’re not gonna be making the money – he’s guaranteed a three-year, $37 million deal they offered him or whatever it was? [Editor’s note: two-year deal with $22 million guaranteed.] Most of those guys on the team and in the locker room are not gonna make $22 million in their career. They’re not gonna feel sorry for Sam Bradford.”
