During last night’s Phillies win – their 7th straight one-run win, I might add – Carlos Ruiz got embarrasingly doubled up on a routine fly ball when Braves centerfielder Ender Inciarte faked not knowing where the ball was in the air and Ruiz believed him. Ruiz, noticing Inciarte’s hands in the air, decided he would try to get to third base on this. And then he saw Inciarte catch the ball.
Boom. Doubled up. Yikes. Baserunning has not been this team’s strong suit this season. Or for a few years, actually. I wonder if Pete Mackanin fined Ruiz? He should’ve.
All good, though. The Phillies won and are currently in third place and only 1.5 games behind the New York Baseball Mets.
