The list of people that loathe Sam Bradford keeps growing.
Most people seem to agree that he had no reason to bitch and moan about his standing on the team, considering he’s shown very little on an NFL field to prove what he thinks he’s worth. He wasn’t thrilled with the Chase Daniel signing and he certainly wasn’t thrilled with the Eagles trading up to the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft to select Carson Wentz. It’s one thing to get butthurt about those moves, but it’s another story for Sam to actually think that his track record makes him comparable to the likes of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, etc.
Football is as competitive as it gets, so it’s no surprise to see players lining up to rip Bradford for feeling that the starting quarterback gig should just be his just because he’s Sam Bradford. Many former players already have, but we haven’t heard much from current players. Until now.
We can now add Seahawks’ defensive end Michael Bennett to the ever growing list of anti-Bradfordites (!) out there. In an interview on 710 ESPN in Seattle on Tuesday, Bennett let it rip.
I listened to Sam Bradford again. I just almost threw up. I can’t believe Sam Bradford is complaining about making $40 million in the next two years, and because he actually has to compete for a position. This guy … this guy right here definitely sets a bad tone of what a player should be. If I was his teammate, how can you play with a guy that doesn’t want to compete at a high level and feels like his position should be solidified without even putting up the stats or the wins to back that up?
Love it. Bennett is dead on. For one thing, Bradford is suppose to be the leader of this team. Secondly, who in the blue hell made Bradford the second coming of Joe Montana… besides himself? Sure, Bradford is saying all the right things now. He has no choice. He hasn’t proven squat. I cannot wait for Daniel to beat him out for the starting quarterback job this year and for the Bradford experiment to be over in Philly. He’s a joke!
