The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t wasting any time getting their NFL Draft picks locked up, signing five of them to contracts less than a week after drafting them.
Fifth-round running back Wendell Smallwood, sixth-round cornerback Blake Countess, seventh-round safety Jalen Mills, seventh-round defensive end Alex McCallister and seventh-round linebacker Joe Walker all put pens to paper Wednesday and are officially part of the team.

First-round pick Carson Wentz, third-round guard Isaac Seumalo and fifth-round tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai are the only three draftees who remain unsigned.
West Virginia’s Smallwood, who led the Big 12 in rushing last season, was the highest pick inked to a deal and will be in the mix at running back with Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles.
There used to be a time when it’d take until training camp for some picks to be signed. Not anymore. We’ll see how long it takes to get a Wentz pact done.
