It looked like the Phillies’ luck in one-run games was about to come to an end – at least for a little bit – on Saturday night. Odubel Herrera provided the winning run with a home run that was challenged by the Reds, but the umpires ultimately decided the fan didn’t reach over the outfield fence, and the run gave the Phillies a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning.
Without the arms of Hector Neris and Jeanmar Gomez, the Phillies leaned on Andrew Bailey in the eighth inning and David Hernandez to try and close it out in the ninth.
Bailey didn’t have much of a problem. Hernandez, on the other hand, wasn’t very impressive. He started off Jay Bruce with an 0-2 count, but faltered, allowing one run and leaving two runners in scoring position before this happened:

Another day, another one-run Phillies win. And they’re one game behind the Nationals for first place in the National League East, and are leading the NL Wild Card.
