The Sixers Reportedly Forced the Spurs to More Than Triple Their Offer to Re-Sign Manu Ginóbili

Yeah, the Sixers are definitely trying to make moves it seems. Or, it’s just an elaborate plan to make it look like they are. Or something. Damn Colangelos.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports’ The Vertical, the Sixers forced the Spurs to “more than triple” their initial offer to Ginóbili, who re-signed with San Antonio on a one-year, $14 million deal.

According to Woj, Brett Brown and co. were trying hard to pry Ginóbili from the Spurs, offering him a two-year deal in that $16-$17 million would be guaranteed in the first year. Woj says the Spurs’ initial offer to Ginóbili was around $3 million. In turn, it cost the Spurs center Boban Marjanovic, Woj says, who signed an offer sheet with the Pistons.

Honestly, the Spurs more than quadrupled their initial offer by signing Ginóbili to a one-year, $14 million deal.

Dario Saric is about to sign a deal with the Sixers, and the team will have a healthy Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor [maybe], Nerlens Noel [maybe] and Ben Simmons. Ginóbili sure would’ve looked good in that.
