Carson Wentz Is “Probably Not” Playing on Thursday Night

Bummer.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said during his press conference Monday that No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz is “probably not” going to play in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the New York Jets if his 11th rib is still 60 percent healed.

Pederson did state that Wentz’s 10th rib is 100 percent healed. Take a listen.

That’s potentially three preseason games worth of reps that Wentz will have missed, which is important considering he may not see much playing time during the regular seeing being the third string quarterback going in. Wentz, of course, injured his ribs in the Eagles’ preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pederson also gave updates on a couple other injuries, including Jordan Matthews, who practiced on a limited basis Monday and should be good to go for the regular season next week.
