The Phillies lost the series finale against the Giants moments ago, but they’re already prepping for their weekend series in San Diego. The team has officially announced Jake Thompson will start on Saturday against the Padres.
Thompson has a 2.50 ERA in 21 starts for Lehigh Valley this season. Here are his stats, via MiLB.com:
Petco Park in San Diego is also revered for being a pitcher’s park, so it could help Thompson in his MLB debut. Thompson is being called up due to Aaron Nola landing on the disabled list, and possibly being done for the season.
