Jordan Matthews also left practice early with a left knee injury, but the team also says he should be fine.
Doug Pederson talked to SiriusXM NFL Radio and it sounds like he’s not too worried about Ryan Mathews exiting practice early. Note to host: Jordan and Ryan are not brothers.
UPDATE: It looks like Mathews and Brooks were both limited since it was their first time back at practice. Here’s the injury update via the Eagles’ website.
Guard Brandon Brooks (hamstring) and running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) returned to action, though the coaching staff did limit them in their return. Cornerback Nolan Carroll (ankle) did not practice as he continues his rehab from last season’s ankle surgery. Left tackle Jason Peters (quad), running back Wendell Smallwood (quad) and safety Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring) all sat out of practice as well.
Meanwhile, a few Eagles also left the field before Friday’s practice concluded. Tight end Zach Ertz and defensive end Marcus Smith left the action to be evaluated for head injuries. Ertz was cleared shortly after practice ended, but Smith was diagnosed with a concussion. He will need to pass through the NFL’s concussion protocol before he can return to the field.
Elsewhere, wide receiver Jordan Matthews and defensive tackle Mike Martin left practice with knee injuries. Coach Pederson told SiriusXM NFL Radio that “everything’s fine” with Matthews and that he should just “be sore for a couple of days”.
