Preseason dynasty!
After two dominant preseason performances by Jim Schwartz’s defense, the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0, forcing nine turnovers and holding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers to a combined nine points.
Pro Football Focus has taken notice and has the Buffalo Bills and Eagles graded as the top two teams through a pair of preseason games.
Jaylen Watkins is listed as the top safety so far in the preseason.
While it’s better for the Eagles to be ranked in the top five than the bottom five, nobody is taking any of this seriously after last year’s preseason tease. You also can’t expect Schwartz’s defense to continue forcing this many turnovers each and every week, although it’s encouraging how far the defense has already come along.
The Eagles’ next preseason game is Saturday night against the Colts in Indianapolis.
