You didn’t really think Tim Tebow would be content with co-hosting a reality show with Mike Holmes on FOX, did you?
The former Florida Gator star and NFL quarterback is reportedly pursuing a career in Major League Baseball and will hold a workout for teams later this month, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter goes into further detail in an ESPN.com article on the matter stating that his reports are based off conversations with the current SEC Network anaylst’s agents Jimmy Sexton and Nick Khan.
Tebow trying to revive his athletic career in baseball isn’t completely far fetched as he has a somewhat impressive history with America’s Pastime, however, he hasn’t played competitively since 2005. That year, Tebow was an all-state player in Florida for Nease High School. He boasted a .494 batting average that year, his junior season.
According to Schefter, Tebow has been training on the west coast for the last year to improve his game.
For you college football junkies or just Tebow die-hards, do not worry, he will still be appearing on the SEC Network while he attempts a pilgrimage to the majors.
The former Philadelphia Eagle turns 29 this Sunday, and with being out of the sport for over a decade, it appears that teams aren’t quite buying Tebow’s credibility on the diamond. In the aforementioned Schefter piece, ESPN’s Jayson Stark quoted one MLB Scouting Director who said, “Eleven years (of not playing baseball), nobody can overcome that.”
Reports show that all 30 MLB teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies, will be invited to the workout. However, in my opinion, the Phillies should not be interested at all. The ball club is on the right path of re-building and is enjoying some moderate success in the meantime as well. In the scenario that Tebow does find success in Act II, I would believe he’d be best suited in the outfield, where the Phillies have themselves a plethora of strong, young players, including Aaron Altherr, and Nick Williams.
Signing the former Denver Bronco would only be a publicity stunt that doesn’t seem like something Phillies General Manager Matt Klentak would be interested in, especially after seeing how Tebow couldn’t even make the team across the parking lot from Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies are finally showing signs of a competent organization after the departure of Ruben Amaro Jr. and signing him seems to be against the grain for the current regime.

As for the Reading Fightins, they’re not looking to add Tebow any time soon.
